A sacred space, empowering all,
in faith and friendship to change the world
OUR TEAM
John has a long history with Aldersgate, spanning almost twenty years as a camper, volunteer, and staff member, including as Adventure Director and full-time Program Director. He has been leading Aldersgate as Executive Director since December 2017.

John earned his Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island with a minor in International Development. As part of his collegiate experience, he worked for a non-profit in Kenya, which equipped HIV+ farmers with skills to generate income. He carries that experience back to Aldersgate to help guide Aldersgate's social justice roots of the summer program.

John has a passion for adventure/outdoor education and social justice programming:
“Aldersgate provides opportunities for campers to unplug, reconnect with nature, and understand how human rights are manifested daily in both big and small ways. The cornerstone of the Aldersgate experience is creating a sacred, safe place for people to grow in their faith and their relationships with others.”

John is a lifelong resident of Rhode Island. He grew up at Asbury UMC in Warwick, RI, and is currently an active member of the East Greenwich United Methodist Church. He also serves as the President of the Rhode Island Association of Camps (RIAC). He is working on organizing state-wide staff professional development and tracking legislation that affects summer camps. John met his wife, Rikki, while working on summer staff together in 2010. They were married at Aldersgate in October 2013. While not at camp, they spend their time volunteering, hiking, and traveling.

MEGAN LYNCH
Assistant Director - Day Camp

Megan started at Aldersgate in 2010 as an international counselor from Northern Ireland. She served on seasonal staff for four summers and is now back full time!

Megan has a passion for child development and has worked with children for over ten years in day cares, general education, and behavioral schools.

"Every child needs to have the opportunity to come to camp so they can experience nature and connect with people they wouldn't normally learn more about."

Megan and her husband live onsite with their two daughters who love camp just as much as she does!
ABBY JAMES-VICKERY
Assistant Director - Overnight Programs

Abby is a lifelong United Methodist and long-time member of the Camp Aldersgate family. Abby learned about Aldersgate through a Living Arts volunteer and attended in 2017. After attending as a camper, Abby became a CIT and later joined the summer staff.
She is the oldest of six siblings and brings a unique blend of humor and compassion, along with a passion for justice and helping others. She is currently pursuing her MSW at Marist University.
When not at camp, you can find her exploring new places and meeting new people. Aldersgate’s values have helped shape so much of Abby’s faith and commitment to others, and she looks forward to passing that on to a new generation of campers and staff.
